Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A

Chick-Fil-A has a Cow Appreciation Day where they offer free meals to everyone who comes in dressed as a cow. So we made our own cow outfits and painted each other's faces. The kids had a blast hanging out with the cows, dancing with them, hugging them, and giving them high-fives! The kids played a game and won stuffed animals. We're definitely doing that again next year!

4th of July 2010

This year, we went to the 4th of July celebration in Arvada. Our group had 3 canopies set up with lots of food. We played football, baseball, and participated in all the fun activities they had there for the kids. Trisha tried to take Reuben on the giant slide. "Tried" is the key word. I was holding him in one hand while holding on with the other hand and trying to step up on the steps that were non-existent. Our 2-year-old friend, Owen, beat us to the top! The ride down wasn't any better. We just kept getting stuck. The weather was great, for a few hours. Then came the rain, lightning, and wind. We stayed until it got so bad that we couldn't stand it any more. Some people went home and the rest of us went to our cars to watch fireworks.

On July 3rd, we set off some firecrackers and did sparklers with our 3 neighbor girls, Lili, Izzy, and Aspen.

Summer!

During the summer, we spent lots of time going to free movies, library shows & programs. Here are a few of my favorite pictures. One day at the library we painted shirts and then played Rock Band. After a movie on another day, we had lunch at a park with our friends, the Kuennings. We took the Swisher kids with us to see an animal show. The kids got to touch all sorts of creatures. At the end of the show, they all got to hold a python. Reuben was fearless (contrary to how I thought he would react). The snake seemed to like Rebekah and Gabriel was very concerned about that (see the picture!). Another day we went to Bennett and met our friends, the Carys, at the library to learn about hot air balloons. And as usual, Naomi got picked to be a helper.
