Reuben Isaiah Conklin

Of course we know that God is great...but I must admit I am still amazed when I see it first hand.
First, the baby details. His name is Reuben Isaiah Conklin (yes, it's a boy...) 6lbs. 12ozs. 21 1/2" long. Born November 15th at 17:35 (5:35) PM Now, the "story." Trisha and I went to the Dr. the morning of the birth to have more blood-work done to ensure that Trisha's levels were not getting any worse. Our Midwife had already called us to let us know that if levels did not improve, we would be admitted into the hospital within hours of receiving the blood-work results. At this point, we had become submissive to what seemed to be a reality; Trisha would have to be induced, at the hospital, again. However, we had also peaceably resigned ourselves to God's Sovereign plan...knowing that He is much bigger than our situation, and if He wants us to be induced in the hospital, then Praise be to God! Throughout all of this, Trisha had what we thought was really bad gas (sorry if you are eating breakfast). We hoped (without setting our expectations-though we did continue to pray) that they might be contractions but the duration and frequency pointed in the opposite direction. We left the Dr.’s office, I went to work and Trisha went home to clean. She was still having what we thought might be gas, so we decided to continue to time them, just in case! About two or three hours later, I received a call from Trisha stating they seemed to be more consistent, and at a greater frequency…and the duration was rapidly increasing as well. We were still unsure whether or not to call our Midwife, as they were to call any minute with the results of the blood-work. Well, I wanted to call, just in case, but Trisha could not find their phone number. I then called a good friend of ours (who just delivered a baby w/Yalad-our Midwife-on Saturday) to get our Midwife’s phone number. I called Sherry (one of our Midwives) to inform her of what was going on with Trisha, and she acted very surprised, and told me that Trisha sounds like she is in labor! I of course rushed home (the Midwives were on their way as well) to find Trisha clearly in labor! Shortly after the midwives had arrived, they told us that Trisha was already at 7cm…ready for transition (men, that means close to baby time…I wouldn’t have known had my wife not told me before). We then moved into the pool at about 4:30-4:45 p.m. and baby came at 5:35 p.m.! Baby is healthy, and doing great…with the exception of not wanting to sleep. Mom is doing much better but is still on bed rest to continue to combat the Toxemia. Of course, the only cure for Toxemia is to have the baby, so Trisha’s levels should naturally (by the Power of God’s design) decrease…but please continue to pray for Trisha’s healing. As for God’s timing, impeccable! At the point that I called Yalad (even though we were not going to) Sherry was digging through her phonebook looking for the Dr.’s number whom she was admitting us to in the hospital. As per State of Colorado law, once a Dr. is informed of Toxemia, there is no turning back, the baby must be induced. So there Sherry was, with phone in hand, ready to send us to the hospital, when I called to tell tem that Trisha was in labor. Everything that led up to this just illustrates how God designed this miracle. Even the friend that I called for the number…he never answers his phone, let alone on the second ring! However, he did. We called Yalad, even though we thought it to be better to wait. I called Yalad’s home number instead of the pager, which they rarely answer, but she did! I was going to call my boss and then Kristy Swisher first to tell them I was on my way home…but I didn’t! Had I called Yalad 30-seconds later, Trisha would have been in the hospital being induced. What a miracle…Praise be to God!
There are many, many more details that we would love to share, just at a later time. I just wanted to share God’s wonderful miracle with our family…we love you all and cannot thank you enough for your prayers…they have been answered!
